Madrid welcomed tourism leaders from around the world for the 46th edition of FITUR, held at the IFEMA MADRID exhibition centre from January 21 to 25, 2026.
The annual trade fair brought together representatives from more than 160 countries and thousands of exhibiting companies, reinforcing its position as one of the main meeting points for the international travel industry at the start of the business calendar. Tourism boards, hotel groups, airlines, tour operators and technology providers used the event to present new products and negotiate commercial agreements ahead of the peak booking season.
The first three days were reserved for industry professionals, with meetings and networking sessions focused on contracting, partnerships and investment. The final two days opened to the public, allowing travellers to engage directly with destinations and travel brands showcasing their latest offers.
Dedicated sections of the exhibition addressed key themes shaping the sector. FITUR TechY spotlighted digital transformation and travel technology, while FITUR 4all centred on accessible and inclusive tourism. Conference sessions and forums throughout the week examined sustainability, market trends and innovation across global markets.
Organisers reported strong international participation across nine exhibition halls, with destinations from Europe, the Americas, Africa, Asia and the Middle East promoting new routes, experiences and infrastructure projects.
Beyond the exhibition grounds, the event generated significant business for Madrid’s hospitality and transport sectors, as thousands of delegates travelled to the Spanish capital for the five-day gathering.
Since its launch in 1981, FITUR has developed into a key fixture in the global tourism calendar, frequently serving as a platform for destination campaigns, route announcements and cross-border partnerships within the industry.
