Meliá Hotels International (BME: MEL) has officially opened Paradisus by Meliá Bali in Nusa Dua, marking the Spanish hotel group’s debut of the Paradisus brand in Asia, Travel Weekly reported on February 3.
The resort features 492 luxury suites, including seven private garden villas, on the beachfront of Nusa Dua on the island’s southern coast. The opening follows an extensive transformation of Meliá Bali, the first property Meliá Hotels International opened outside of Spain over four decades ago, which has been reimagined into the Asian flagship for the group’s Destination-Inclusive brand.
Set within tropical gardens off the coast of Nusa Dua, the resort’s reinvention includes four lagoon-style pools, and dining and experiential concepts for both adults and families. Dining spans eight restaurants, three bars and a local coffee shop. All-day dining at Malva showcases local and international dishes, while Peseta draws on the brand’s Spanish heritage. Kanna Beach Restaurant offers South American-inspired cuisine and fresh local seafood, with additional options including Samira for Middle Eastern flavours, Tokimeku for Japanese specialities, and Arum, which pairs Indonesian cuisine with daily Balinese cultural performances.
Cultural experiences available to all guests include the Devan Show at Bali Nusa Dua Theatre, which showcases Indonesia’s diverse cultural heritage through traditional dance and music. Adults-only experiences include curated cultural and spiritual activities in villages near Mount Batukaru. Daily in-house activities include Lontar writing and traditional Balinese dance.
The property’s all-inclusive service allows guests to dine across the restaurants and activities, and includes a 20% discount on wellness experiences at the YHI Spa. The resort holds the distinction of being the first hotel in Asia to achieve EarthCheck Platinum status, one of only five in the world.
“Bali holds a special place in Meliá’s history. Today, we are proud to see that legacy evolve. This resort represents a new way of experiencing a destination many travellers globally feel they already know,” said Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, chairman and chief executive officer of Meliá Hotels International.
