Radisson Hotel Group has opened Radisson RED Auckland, marking the group’s first hotel in New Zealand and the Radisson RED brand’s first property in Australasia, the company announced on February 19.
The 322-room hotel at 33 Lorne Street sits in the heart of Auckland’s Arts District, Central Business District, and features what the company says is New Zealand’s largest rooftop space. The rooftop venue holds up to 219 guests in a cocktail-style layout, divides into four flexible event rooms, and is set to open as a full restaurant and bar with unobstructed views of Auckland’s Sky Tower.

Chief Operating Officer for MEA and SEAP Tim Cordon said Auckland’s cultural identity made it an ideal location for the brand. “Radisson RED thrives in cities fuelled by creativity, culture, and community, and Auckland captures that spirit perfectly,” he said on February 19. “This opening marks a major milestone for our growth in Australasia and a proud moment for our upper-upscale Radisson RED brand, which brings a playful twist to the conventional.”
Radisson RED Auckland’s interiors draw directly on the neighbouring arts precinct. Corridor lighting replicates stage spotlights, lounge seating references opera boxes, and guest rooms are designed to evoke an actor’s dressing room, with layered textures, curated artwork and expressive lighting. The Suite Panorama on the upper floors offers panoramic views across Auckland City, Albert Park, and the Waitemata Harbour.
The Auckland hotel is among the city’s few pet-friendly hotels and is within walking distance of major attractions including the Auckland Art Gallery, Civic Theatre, Sky Tower, and Auckland Museum, as well as ferry access to Waiheke Island.
General Manager Reinout Engel said the property was built to serve both visitors and the local Auckland community. “We’ve designed Radisson RED Auckland to be far more than a place to stay — it’s a creative hub where locals and travellers can plug into the heartbeat of the CBD and feel the city’s culture, colour, and energy from the moment they arrive,” he said on February 19.
