Zambia-owned operator Shearzone Safaris will open Nzovu Rundu Luxury Camp in the Lower Zambezi National Park in June 2026, its second property in the country and the first of three luxury camps the company plans to launch by 2028.
The camp is located seven kilometres from the entrance to the national park, positioned along the Nkalange Channel of the Zambezi River with views towards the Zambezi Escarpment. It will comprise eight luxury suites and two family units, each with a private plunge pool, air-conditioning and outdoor shower. A spa and wine cellar form part of the main lodge facilities.
The name Nzovu Rundu is a reference to the elephants that move through the area and to the escarpment that frames the camp’s setting. Activities will include game drives, walking safaris, canoeing, boat cruises and stargazing from a dedicated skylight outpost.
Shearzone opened its first property, Mozhi Bush Camp, in Kafue National Park in 2019. The company operates a private Cessna fleet offering charter connections between its camps and wider Zambia. Two further properties are planned: Achikunda Luxury Camp in 2027 and Old Njati Luxury Camp in 2028.
The camp has been taken on by UK-based Travel Promoters as its international sales representative. Travel Promoters founder Ailsa Tavares cited the recent BBC series The Kingdom, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, as having raised consumer awareness of Zambia as a destination. “We have the fabulous Sir David Attenborough to thank for raising awareness of Zambia recently through The Kingdom documentary — and, in line with this heightened consumer interest, we are delighted to be expanding our Zambian portfolio with the addition of Shearzone Safaris,” Tavares said. — Adventure Travel Trade Association
Shearzone Chief Executive Officer Tolayi Sikumba said the company’s name was taken from a geological term and described the expansion as a pivotal moment. “We are proud to be represented by Ailsa and her mighty team at Travel Promoters at this pivotal time in our business, where we are expanding our footprint across Zambia with three new camps over the next two years.” — Adventure Travel Trade Association
