SunExpress enters Montenegro with new Podgorica routes to Izmir and Antalya

SunExpress, a joint venture between Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, will launch its first-ever flights to Montenegro this summer, introducing twice-weekly seasonal services from Podgorica to both Izmir and Antalya,

The Podgorica-Izmir service begins on June 12, with flights on Tuesdays and Fridays, while the Podgorica-Antalya route launches on June 14, operating on Tuesdays and Sundays. Both services run through October 2026.

The Izmir route operates under flight numbers XQ816 and XQ817, using Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

The Antalya service marks the first time Podgorica has been linked to the Turkish resort city with a scheduled air service. Pegasus Airlines already operates on the Podgorica-Izmir route, meaning SunExpress’s entry adds capacity and competition on that corridor.

The announcement adds to a period of rapid growth at Podgorica Airport, which earlier this year saw Wizz Air open a new base with 14 routes and more than one million additional seats annually.

Airports of Montenegro confirmed the new services, which form part of SunExpress’s wider expansion in south-east Europe for the 2026 summer schedule
