Kuwait’s Jazeera Airways moves to Saudi’s Qaisumah over airspace closure

Jazeera Airways

Jazeera Airways will relocate operations to Qaisumah Airport in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province following the temporary shutdown of Kuwaiti airspace, the carrier announced on March 8, after receiving approvals from both Kuwaiti and Saudi authorities.

Chief Executive Barathan Pasupathi told the Kuwait News Agency the move prioritises travel for stranded Kuwaiti nationals and residents, with Kuwait International Airport remaining suspended due to regional tensions.

Passengers wishing to depart will need to drive approximately 2.5 hours to Qaisumah Airport in Hafr Al-Batin, and will require a valid Saudi visa to do so. Arrivals into the region will continue by road back into Kuwait from Qaisumah.

Pasupathi said the airline was in discussions with bus operators to provide transport options for passengers unable to drive themselves, with tickets to be booked separately. He thanked both governments for their swift coordination in enabling the arrangement.

Jazeera said flight schedules, booking details and further logistical arrangements would be communicated through official channels as the situation develops.
