Indonesia launches Tourism XChange forum in Jakarta

Indonesia’s tourism and hospitality industry is to gain its first dedicated national investment forum, with the inaugural Indonesia Tourism Xchange (ITX 2026) set to take place at The Langham in Jakarta.

The forum will bring together hotel owners, operators, investors and senior decision-makers from across the archipelago to examine the forces shaping the country’s tourism economy amid renewed growth and increasing complexity. .

The programme covers the full spectrum of hospitality, from luxury and lifestyle to performance, investment, technology, sustainability and emerging development models, opening with an assessment of Indonesia’s investment climate and tourism outlook for 2026. .

ITX 2026 is organised by Horwath HTL, C9 Hotelworks, STR, QUO Global, Greenview and Delivering Asia, in partnership with Langham Hospitality Group, and supported by the Jakarta Hotels Association, PHRI Indonesia and the Bali Hotels Association. Attendance is free, with advance registration required.

A dedicated session on standalone branded residences, moderated by C9 Hotelworks Managing Director Bill Barnett, will examine the growing role of residential-led hospitality across Indonesia’s resort and lifestyle destinations.

Luxury hospitality will be a central theme, with Sherona Shng, Regional Vice President Operations Asia at Langham Hospitality Group, addressing how the segment is being reshaped by cultural experience rather than scale. “Luxury travellers coming to Indonesia are not looking for replicas of global hotels,” Shng is expected to tell delegates. — Bookio

Matt Gebbie, Director – Pacific Asia at Horwath HTL, will present the tourism performance outlook for 2026. “Indonesia’s opportunity is not simply growth — it is smart growth. Luxury hotels, in particular, face higher expectations on performance, capital returns, and differentiation. Understanding which destinations, segments, and concepts will truly perform in 2026 and beyond is now critical for investors and operators alike,”  said Gebbie. — eHotelier

The forum arrives as Indonesia pushes to position itself as a higher-value travel market in Southeast Asia, with the government having set a target of 14mn to 16mn international arrivals for 2026, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.
