Qatar Airways resumes daily Bahrain, Kozhikode flights from May 1

Qatar Airways will restore daily services to Bahrain and to Kozhikode in India’s Kerala state from May 1, in the latest tranche of route reinstatements as the carrier rebuilds its global network in the aftermath of the regional conflict.

The Doha-based airline said the move follows the resumption of daily flights to Dubai and Sharjah from April 23, with Damascus also returning on May 1, the Qatar Tribune reported on April 27.

For trade buyers, the resumption matters on three fronts:

Bahrain. The Manama route restores one of the GCC’s shortest and highest-frequency intra-regional connections, easing pressure on the limited cross-Causeway and ferry alternatives that have been carrying business travel and crew movements during the suspension.

Kozhikode (CCJ). Calicut International is the principal gateway to north Kerala and the Malabar coast, and one of the most heavily used Indian airports for Gulf labour flows. Daily Doha service is a meaningful lift for Kerala’s expatriate corridor, remittance-driven travel and the inbound leisure market built around Wayanad, Kannur and the wider Malabar region.

Damascus. The Syrian capital’s restoration adds another data point in the post-conflict reopening of Levant connectivity through Doha.

Passengers holding tickets issued by April 30 2026 for travel between February 28 and September 15 2026 remain eligible for complimentary date changes to new travel dates up to October 31 2026 when rebooking on Qatar Airways-operated flights, subject to availability and seasonal fare differences, the airline said. Refund options are also available on unused ticket value, with processing taking up to 28 working days.

For passengers on flights affected by schedule changes, additional fee-free changes will be permitted until October 31 2026 while retaining the same cabin class regardless of fare seasonality.

Schedules remain subject to change due to operational, regulatory, safety or other unforeseen circumstances, the airline cautioned.
