Emirates adds four weekly Dubai-Accra flights as Ghana demand grows

Emirates Airlines

Dubai’s Emirates will add four weekly services between Dubai and Accra from July 12, taking its Ghana operation to 11 flights a week, the airline said on June 19.

The expansion points to sustained demand on the route, which the carrier said maintained high seat occupancy year-round, as Gulf airlines deepen their presence across African markets and channel traffic through their hub networks.

The new service, operating as EK789/EK790, will complement Emirates‘ existing daily flight and run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The outbound flight will leave Dubai at 03:30, arriving in Accra at 07:40, with the return departing Accra at 10:25 and reaching Dubai at 22:40, all local times.

The flights will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER, offering eight First Class suites, 42 lie-flat Business Class seats and 304 Economy seats.

The service is timed to connect Accra travellers to hubs including Beijing, Seoul, Sydney, Perth, Mumbai, Singapore, New York JFK and Jeddah, and to give passengers from points such as Delhi, Boston, Los Angeles and gateways across Germany and the UK a more convenient connection to Accra via Dubai.

“For more than two decades, Emirates has proudly connected Ghana to the world,” said Salem Almana, the airline’s country manager for Ghana. “The introduction of this additional service demonstrates our continued confidence in the Ghanaian market and our commitment to supporting the country’s growing travel needs.”

The additional flights will also support cargo movements through Emirates SkyCargo, which carries fresh cut fruit from Ghana to European destinations including Prague and Zurich, alongside electronics, textiles and pharmaceuticals, the airline said.
