Ontario International Airport (ONT) in Southern California has added new restaurant dishes and three anniversary cocktails at its lounges to mark a decade under local control, the airport said on October 15.

The refresh opens a year-long celebration of 10 years since Ontario International Airport passed into local ownership. The airport, 56 km (35 miles) east of downtown Los Angeles, pitches itself as an alternative gateway to the region and was ranked the second most popular mid-sized airport in the US in the latest J.D. Power North America Airport Satisfaction Study.

At Tap & Pour in Terminal 2, operator SSP America has added a Brekki Burger with fried egg and sriracha ketchup, and steak frites with chimichurri and truffle fries, completing a wider menu overhaul at its ONT outlets. Staff received several weeks of training and support from regional chefs.

The Aspire Lounges in both terminals are serving three themed cocktails through November, including the Purple Reign of Local Control.

“We prepare our food right here, from cutting the steaks to making the chimichurri fresh,” said Tony Corona, SSP America’s director of operations at ONT.

ONT, in the Inland Empire region, offers nonstop flights to more than two dozen airports in the US, Mexico, Central America and Taiwan. SSP America is part of London-listed SSP Group (LSE:SSPG).
