Anantara Hotels & Resorts opened Anantara Tented Camp Kafue River, its first safari property in Africa, in Zambia’s Kafue National Park, the company said on October 12.

The 13-key camp gives the luxury safari trade a new product in one of Africa’s least explored parks, with an opening rate from $6,289 per room per night and access by private charter from Livingstone or Lusaka.

The camp has three Horizon Terrace Suites of 110 square metres, raised 14.3 metres above the ground and reached by a glass elevator, and nine Pool and Bush Villas of 115 square metres with heated plunge pools. A 400-square-metre Presidential Villa has its own boat access. Meg Ralph Spaces designed the camp, which runs on solar power with on-site water purification and minimal single-use plastics, the company said.

Guests join twice-daily game drives with Zambian guides, river safaris, bush picnics and catch-and-release fishing. Meals are included, with breakfasts, afternoon tea and sunset wine tastings served on a floating pontoon seating up to four guests. A floating Technogym fitness platform and an Anantara Spa massage room in each suite or villa make up the wellness offer.

Anantara developed the safari experiences with African Parks, which has worked with the Government of Zambia on the 22,480 square kilometre park since 2022. Kafue lechwe antelope were reintroduced in 2024, and Zambia’s largest wildlife translocation in 2025 brought wildebeest and zebra back to the park’s grasslands.

The opening offer is for two people sharing a suite on a full-board basis, with premium beverages, twice-daily game drives, a personal butler and one 90-minute spa treatment per person per stay. The company highlights the green season from December through March for migratory birds and fewer visitors.

Private charter flights run to Chunga airstrip, and Lusaka International Airport is four hours away by road. Anantara is part of Minor Hotels and operates more than 50 hotels and resorts across Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Indian Ocean.
