Changsha Tourism Development Conference in Hunan

The fifth Changsha Tourism Development Conference opened in Changsha County, Hunan province, on September 29, as local officials push the area as a short-break and “micro-vacation” destination.

The conference promoted tourism products built around red-themed study tours, ecological wellness tourism, rural leisure, intelligent manufacturing and meetings and exhibitions. The positioning reflects a broader Chinese domestic tourism trend in which shorter, experience-led trips are being marketed around culture, countryside access and city-adjacent breaks.

Changsha County is presenting four main themes: red culture, green ecology, intelligent manufacturing and openness. Routes promoted during the event connect sites including Bancang Resort in Kaihui Town, Dashali village community in Qingshanpu Town, Chen Shuxiang-related red tourism resources in Fulin Town and industrial tourism locations such as GAC Aion and Minghe Industrial Park.

Six side events were also held alongside the conference to support tourism consumption.

Changsha has now held the event for five consecutive years. Xinhua Silk Road said tourist arrivals and total tourism spending in Changsha doubled in 2025 compared with 2021, while inbound tourist spending rose by more than 40% year on year.
