Expo 2027 Belgrade targets Slovenian tourism partnerships

Expo 2027 Belgrade has brought Slovenian and Serbian travel businesses together in Ljubljana to develop tourism packages and commercial partnerships ahead of next year’s event in Serbia.

Slovenia presented its pavilion concept at the Visit Serbia B2B Networking event on October 15. More than 50 business and tourism representatives attended, according to the organisers’ announcement.

The talks focused on cross-border itineraries and travel packages that could encourage Expo visitors to explore destinations beyond Belgrade. For travel agents, that creates a route to discuss multi-stop programmes with partners in both countries.

However, the announcement did not name any signed tour packages, contracts or new transport services. The networking event was a platform for businesses to explore cooperation, rather than a launch of bookable products.

Expo chief executive Danilo Jerinić said the event’s legacy should include business relationships, investment, repeat visits and longer-term projects. He opened the meeting alongside Blaž Cvar, president of Slovenia’s Chamber of Craft and Small Business, and state secretary Leon Korošec.

Slovenia’s general commissioner for the Expo, Saša Lavrič, and Slovenian Tourist Board director Maja Pak Olaj presented the pavilion concept. The release did not disclose its design details.

The organisers also highlighted existing commercial ties. Citing Serbia’s Statistical Office, they put bilateral goods trade at about $2.04bn in 2025. More than 1,200 Slovenian companies operate in Serbia and employ around 25,000 people, the announcement said.

Expo 2027 Belgrade will run from May 15 to August 15, 2027, under the theme “Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All”. Organisers expect more than 140 international participants.

The Ljubljana meeting follows a similar Expo tourism networking event in Zagreb, extending the project’s outreach to travel businesses across the region.
