Hyatt opens first Destination by Hyatt resort in Uzbekistan

Hyatt Hotels Corporation opened Beldersoy Resort and SPA on July 15, marking the debut of its Destination by Hyatt brand in Uzbekistan and the country’s first premium mountain resort, according to the company’s newsroom announcement.

The property sits in the Beldersoy mountains within the Chimgan-Bostanliq region, a few hours’ drive from Tashkent, with direct access to ski slopes, cable cars and year-round hiking and biking trails. The resort comprises 109 mountain-inspired rooms and 36 private villas, each designed with panoramic mountain views, and features an interior palette drawn from stone, sand, clay and green tones intended to reflect the surrounding landscape.

Michel Morauw, managing director of Hyatt EAME North, said the property was built to reflect the region’s alpine heritage. “Beldersoy Resort & SPA has been carefully curated to reflect Uzbek alpine culture, aligning with our vision of blending a strong appreciation for local heritage with distinct contemporary design and welcoming service,” he said, cited by Hyatt.

Unlike Hyatt’s more uniform hotel brands, Destination by Hyatt operates on a franchise model in which each property retains its own name and identity rather than a standardised design template. At Beldersoy, that approach translates into architectural details inspired by the geometric forms of historic minarets, interiors featuring work by Uzbek artists, and ceramics handcrafted by local artisans.

The resort’s ski slope stretches around 3km with a vertical drop of 765 metres, meeting International Ski and Snowboard Federation standards and ranking among the longest in the CIS region, with terrain suited to both freeride skiers and intermediate riders. A three-storey wellness complex anchors the property’s spa offering, featuring six pools, five bath concepts and an infinity pool overlooking the surrounding peaks, alongside treatments built around therapeutic marine minerals. The resort’s culinary programme is overseen by chefs whose backgrounds include Michelin-starred restaurants and events such as Formula 1 and FIFA championships, while suite guests have access to a 24-hour butler service covering everything from in-room dining to private ski instruction.

The opening positions Beldersoy as a base for travellers looking to pair Uzbekistan’s Silk Road heritage sites in Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva with a mountain retreat, part of what Hyatt has described as one of the world’s fastest-growing tourism destinations.
