Hyatt Hotels Corporation and Green Rock LLC, an Armenia-based development company, have signed a franchise agreement to develop Hyatt Regency Dilijan, marking the Hyatt Regency brand’s debut in Armenia, TravelMole reported on August 13.
The agreement was announced during a groundbreaking ceremony in Dilijan, attended by representatives from the Armenian government, Hyatt and Green Rock. The planned 205-room hotel will feature guestrooms and suites, restaurants and bars, family entertainment facilities, a conference centre and a rooftop helipad.
Dilijan, known for its mountain scenery, cultural heritage and national parks, sits around 90 minutes by road from Yerevan and is increasingly positioning itself as a year-round base for leisure, business travel and events. Hyatt Regency Dilijan will form part of a wider 43,000-square-metre development by Green Rock, which is also planned to include restaurants, retail space, two cinemas and a 3,000-square-metre wellness centre with a spa, fitness facilities and an outdoor pool.
The hotel’s conference facilities are expected to accommodate more than 550 people, adding capacity for corporate meetings, conferences and weddings. The wider development is expected to create more than 400 jobs across hospitality, food and beverage, wellness, events, engineering and hotel operations.
“This partnership aims to create more than a hotel,” said Katerina Danekina, chief executive officer of Green Rock, who said the project is intended to help build a destination capable of attracting visitors throughout the year while supporting tourism, culture and the local community.
For Hyatt, the project extends its premium full-service presence in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The Hyatt Regency brand currently operates more than 245 hotels across more than 50 countries. Hyatt said Dilijan holds significant long-term potential for both business and leisure travellers, though the hotel’s opening date and construction timeline have not yet been announced.
