Omani passport holders can now travel to Botswana without a visa for stays of up to 90 days, after Oman’s Foreign Ministry announced the exemption on August 23, according to Muscat Daily.
The ministry said Botswana had informed Oman that the sultanate is not among the countries whose nationals require an entry visa, with the exemption applying to holders of all types of Omani passports. Under the arrangement, travellers must hold a passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry, containing a minimum of three blank pages.
Oman’s Foreign Ministry also advised citizens planning to visit the southern African country to obtain health insurance covering the full duration of their stay.
The exemption is expected to make travel easier for Omanis visiting Botswana for tourism, business and other short-term purposes, adding Oman to a growing list of nations benefiting from Botswana’s expanding visa-free arrangements in recent years.
The move comes as Gulf states continue to broaden visa-free access across Africa, with several African governments extending reciprocal travel arrangements to GCC nationals as part of wider efforts to strengthen tourism and trade links between the two regions.
