Syria bets on major travel show to relaunch tourism industry

Syria will host its first Syria Travel Show (STS) from September 28-30 at Al Moutanbi Hall in the Dama Rose Hotel, Damascus, as the country works to rebuild its tourism sector, Zawya reported.

The event, held under the patronage of Syria’s Ministry of Tourism and organised by Mangusteen Events and Exhibitions alongside SO Media, was originally scheduled for April but has since been rescheduled. Organisers expect more than 20 speakers, 30 exhibitors and 5,000 attendees across the three-day programme, according to the event’s official website.

STS is designed as a business-to-business platform connecting tourism authorities, investors, hotel groups, developers, airlines, tour operators, travel agencies, technology providers, franchise brands and cultural institutions. The conference programme will cover policy and investment, public-private partnerships, hospitality and aviation, destination marketing, inbound tourism, cultural heritage, travel technology, entrepreneurship, talent development and regional cooperation, Zawya reported. A dedicated exhibition floor will showcase Syrian destinations, hospitality brands and travel services, alongside a B2B matchmaking programme for investors, buyers, operators and suppliers.

The launch follows a sharp rise in visitor numbers to Syria. Between January and November 2025, the country recorded 3.56mn visitors, up 18% year-on-year, while arrivals in the first half of 2026 reached 3.52mn, according to organisers.

The show also follows Syria’s re-engagement with the international tourism trade at events including FITUR in Madrid and the UN Tourism General Assembly, part of a wider effort by the Ministry of Tourism to reposition the country within the Middle East and North Africa region.

Registration for trade visitors, investors, buyers, operators and tourism professionals is open through the event’s official website, with exhibition and sponsorship packages available to Syrian, regional and international organisations.
