Turkey welcomed 34.83 million foreign visitors in the first eight months of 2026, a fall of 1.84 per cent from the same period last year, according to figures reported by Travel Daily News.

For the trade, the data points to a flat peak season, with August arrivals of 6.96 million almost level with a year earlier, down just 0.03 per cent.

Russia was the largest source market with 4.72 million visitors, a 13.55 per cent share, ahead of Germany with 4.39 million and the United Kingdom with 2.71 million. Istanbul drew 12.47 million visitors, about 36 per cent of the total, while Antalya received 10.28 million and led in August with 2.52 million.

Tourism revenue for the first half of the year was $25.746 billion, down 0.1 per cent. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has set a target of $65 billion in tourism revenue for 2026.
