Mirror Bar in Bratislava has won the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award at Europe’s 50 Best Bars 2026, the organisers said on June 3, the first of two special prizes announced ahead of the main list reveal in Amsterdam on June 30.
The award, chosen by the more than 300 anonymous industry experts who make up the Europe’s 50 Best Bars Academy, recognises venues judged to deliver exceptional hospitality across the voting period.
Mirror Bar opened in 2019 inside Bratislava’s historic Radisson Blu Carlton Hotel and has become a leading name in Slovakia’s modern cocktail scene.
It is led by bar manager Peter Marcina and global bar ambassador Stanislav Harciník, pairing classic technique with concepts drawn from science fiction.
The award follows the bar’s Disaronno Highest New Entry Award at The World’s 50 Best Bars 2025, when it debuted at number 25 on that list.
Its Essence of Design menu reworks six principles of design, namely form, shape, line, texture, colour and space, into drinks built around theatrical, maximalist presentation.
“In a short space of time, Mirror Bar has become one of Bratislava’s standout destinations. The team has crafted an experience that feels both elevated and inviting,” said Emma Sleight, head of content for Europe’s 50 Best Bars.
Harciník said the recognition carried weight beyond the venue itself.
“We wanted to share our view of true Slovakian hospitality with the global bar community. Receiving this recognition from fellow professionals and friends proves that this feeling and our approach are working. This honour is meaningful not just for our bar and team, but for Bratislava, Slovakia, and our entire region,” he said.
What it means for operators
The award is a marker of how far the region‘s bar scene has climbed in a short period. A Bratislava venue taking a continental hospitality prize, a year after entering the global top 25, signals that the city can compete with the established cocktail capitals of Berlin, Prague and Barcelona for high-spending drinks tourism.
Listed venues report booking surges and waiting lists after the reveal, and the awards function as a draw for the growing segment of travellers who plan trips around food and drink.
For Slovakia, still a secondary stop on most central European itineraries, a flagship like Mirror Bar gives operators and tourism bodies a concrete reason to position Bratislava as a standalone destination rather than a day trip from Vienna.
