Saudi Arabia’s Amaala opens Jayasom wellness resort as seventh property

Red Sea Global opened the Jayasom Wellness Resort at Amaala on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast, the developer said on September 16.

It is the seventh resort to open at the destination and the first property anywhere for Jayasom, the wellness brand related to Thailand’s Chiva-Som, whose arrival takes Amaala closer to completing the nine-resort first phase into which Red Sea Global has put SAR51.04bn ($13.6bn). The opening comes a day after the developer began operations at the Amaala Yacht Club, giving the site both its marina and its clinical wellness anchor within two days.

The resort is at Triple Bay and was announced in March 2023, with 153 keys and 24 branded residences across more than 7,000 square metres. It combines an adults-only zone with a family product, and offers all-inclusive retreats that pair evidence-based practice with Arab and Eastern healing traditions, covering areas including women’s health, fitness, detoxification and multigenerational wellbeing.

Like the rest of the destination it runs entirely on solar power.

Clinique La Prairie and The Ritz-Carlton are the remaining two resorts in the first phase. Amaala is expected to create up to 50,000 jobs and contribute SAR11bn ($2.9bn) to Saudi GDP on completion, when it will hold more than 1,600 keys including branded and unbranded residences.

Red Sea Global is owned by the Public Investment Fund. Its first destination, The Red Sea, opened to guests in 2023, followed by Thuwal Private Retreat in 2024, with Amaala receiving its first guests this year.
