Hotel101 Global (NASDAQ:HBNB) has signed a countrywide joint venture with Egypt’s IGI Holding, starting with a 750-room hotel in West Cairo, it announced on October 20.
The Singapore-based group’s first project on the African continent adds to a wave of international hotel signings in Egypt, where Marriott is developing nine properties. The country welcomed nearly 19mn tourists in 2025 and is chasing a 30mn tourist target, and room supply in the West Cairo corridor serving the Grand Egyptian Museum, which opened in November 2025, will decide how many of those visitors stay near the plateau.
The property, Hotel101-Cairo West, will occupy a 15,984 sq m site in Hay Al Ashgar along Ahmed Zewail Road in 6th of October City, Giza, around 10 minutes from the Giza Pyramids and the museum. The site links to El Wahat Road and the Cairo Ring Road, with access to Sphinx International Airport.
The hotel carries a projected value of EGP5.47bn ($102mn) and is due for completion in 2029. Hotel101 expects it to rank among the three largest hotels in Cairo by room count.
The company plans four-star facilities at budget prices, including a ballroom, meeting rooms and a conference centre aimed at business events, alongside all-day dining, swimming pools, a gym and a business centre. The development remains subject to governmental, regulatory and corporate approvals.
Hotel101 founder Edgar “Injap” Sia II and IGI Holding vice chairman Khaled Sheta led the signing ceremony in front of the Pyramids.
Hotel101 runs a standardised “condotel” model, selling individual hotel units during construction before earning recurring revenue from operations. It expands mainly through joint ventures with local developers, and targets 25 countries in the medium term and 1mn rooms in 100 countries in the long term.
Hotel101 Global is a subsidiary of Philippine-listed DoubleDragon Corporation (PSE:DD) and had a market capitalisation of about $1.1bn on October 16. Hotel101-Madrid, which opened in March 2026, was its first property outside the Philippines, and it is developing a 482-room hotel in Niseko, Japan.
