Gulf Air has resumed flights between Bahrain and Kuala Lumpur, with the first service departing on September 30, the airline said.
The route makes Gulf Air the 10th Middle Eastern carrier at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), adding another link between Malaysia and the Gulf as airlines expand in Asia.
The Boeing 787-9 service runs up to five times a week until October 7, then three times a week. The extra capacity covers the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang on October 2-4, for which Gulf Air is title sponsor.
“Adding Kuala Lumpur as a permanent destination further strengthens our network and supports year-round connectivity between Bahrain, Malaysia, and beyond,” said Martin Gauss, chief executive of Gulf Air.
Malaysian Deputy Transport Minister Hasbi Habibollah said “the return of Gulf Air provides timely capacity to help us meet these traffic projections”. Malaysia handled 104.4mn passengers in 2025 and forecasts 103.8mn to 109.7mn in 2026.
Tickets are on sale through gulfair.com, the Gulf Air app and travel agents. Gulf Air is the national carrier of Bahrain.
