Kuwait’s Jazeera Airways (Boursa Kuwait: JAZEERA) has postponed its planned flights to Aswan in southern Egypt for operational reasons, it said on October 23.
Services will remain suspended until further notice. Passengers with confirmed bookings to Aswan are being moved onto alternative flights via Luxor, about 200km to the north.
Egypt is an important market for the low-cost carrier, and Aswan would have been its seventh Egyptian destination. The airline recently lifted its credit facilities to $193mn.
“Our immediate priority is to support affected customers and provide suitable alternative travel arrangements through Luxor,” chief executive Barathan Pasupathi said.
“Egypt remains an important market for Jazeera Airways, and we remain committed to strengthening connectivity between Kuwait and Egypt while ensuring operational reliability,” he added.
Jazeera Airways flies from Kuwait to Cairo, Sphinx, Alexandria, Luxor, Assiut and Sohag. Egypt has been easing entry for visitors, including a digital visa on arrival at Cairo airport.
Affected passengers can check their bookings on the Jazeera Airways website or app.
Jazeera Airways is a Kuwait-based low-cost carrier listed on Boursa Kuwait. Its network spans the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe.
