JetBlue (JBLU) announced plans to launch nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Simón Bolívar International Airport in Caracas, the airline’s first-ever route to Venezuela, reported on May 28.
The service remains subject to government approval and completion of applicable regulatory processes in Venezuela.
JetBlue said it plans to begin service before the end of 2026, with tickets expected to go on sale in the coming months.
The route will be operated using Airbus A320 aircraft and is aimed primarily at the Venezuelan diaspora community in South Florida, with the airline citing demand from travellers visiting friends and relatives.
Fort Lauderdale serves as JetBlue’s main gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean, with nearly 130 daily departures expected this summer following the airline’s announcement of its largest-ever schedule from the airport, including 11 new destinations.
“Fort Lauderdale continues to serve as JetBlue’s gateway to the Caribbean and Latin America, and we believe there is meaningful opportunity to expand our presence in the region with planned service to Caracas,” said Dave Jehn, vice president of network planning and airline partnerships at JetBlue.
“South Florida is home to a large Venezuelan community, and this new route would help connect families and loved ones with JetBlue’s competitive fares and award-winning service,” Jehn added.
