JW Marriott has opened its first all-inclusive resort, JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort & Spa on Costa Rica’s northern Pacific coast, the brand said on October 6.

The 415-room property near Playa El Jobo is priced from $900 per person per night in double occupancy, giving agents and tour operators a luxury all-inclusive product in Costa Rica from a major global hotel brand.

Bruce Rohr, vice president and global brand leader for JW Marriott, said the resort "invites guests to slow down, embrace the beauty of the present moment, and leave feeling renewed".

The 16,000-square-foot wellness destination includes the brand’s first Mindfulness House and Spa by JW. The resort has 17 pools, including an oceanfront infinity pool that the brand describes as Costa Rica’s largest poolscape, and 15 dining venues ranging from casual to elevated.

Accommodation includes Mindful Rooms and Presidential Suites with swim-out access. The resort also has the next generation of the Griffin Club, a resort-within-a-resort concept.

Restaurants include Leal, Casado, Puerto Limon, Luciano, Santos, Namuyaki, Boga and LaGloria, which features an artisanal root beer stand inspired by J. Willard Marriott’s 1927 venture.

The brand recently opened a luxury safari camp in Kenya’s Solio Reserve.

The resort has more than 9,000 square feet of event space.
