Oman Air has signed a memorandum of understanding with Adhwaa Al Ardh Al Satiaa to bring 30,000 visitors from Indonesia to Salalah in 2027, the airline said on October 21.
Adhwaa Al Ardh Al Satiaa will buy 30,000 seats on Oman Air services from Jakarta to Salalah via Muscat. Every booking will include a tourism package covering Dhofar and the wider Sultanate.
The block deal gives Salalah a new long-haul source market outside the summer khareef monsoon season, when Gulf visitors pack the city. Dhofar has been opening trekking routes along ancient frankincense trails as it targets 3mn visitors by 2040.
“Oman offers a unique combination of natural beauty, authentic culture and renowned hospitality that resonates strongly with Indonesian travellers,” said Dr Salim Abdullah Al Shanfari, chairman of Adhwaa Al Ardh Al Satiaa.
He said the packages aim to encourage visitors to discover the wider Sultanate as well as Salalah.
“Indonesia represents a market of significant potential,” said Ahmed Ali Al Mahrouqi, Oman Air’s vice-president of global sales. He said partnerships of this kind help drive inbound tourism, support local businesses and position Oman as a year-round destination.
Oman Air said the agreement responds to growing demand from Southeast Asia and supports the goals of Oman Vision 2040.
The deal follows the carrier’s first oneworld codeshare with Finnair earlier this month. Oman is also adding 700 hotel rooms by the end of the year ahead of the winter season.
Oman Air is the national carrier of Oman and a member of the oneworld alliance. It flies from its Muscat hub to destinations across the Middle East, Asia, Europe and Africa.
