Safer Tourism Foundation, the UK charity dedicated to preventing serious harm and injury to travellers, will host its inaugural Traveller Safety Lab on 19 October 2026, a one-day forum at DWF’s London offices exploring how travel safety delivers measurable business impact.
The event will run from 9:30am to 6:00pm at DWF’s offices in EC3M, bringing together risk and safety auditors, product and itinerary designers, and sales and marketing teams from across the travel industry. Organisers are framing the day around three lenses: People, Places and Profit — the idea that getting traveller safety right isn’t purely a compliance exercise, but delivers tangible benefits across a travel business.
Through expert presentations and panel discussions, the Lab will cover a wide range of ground, including why travellers behave differently once on holiday, how safety needs differ across traveller demographics, and how using safety incident data can directly improve brand reputation and customer loyalty. The agenda also addresses the connection between safety and inclusive travel, the relationship between safety and sustainability, and the lasting effects on businesses and individuals when serious incidents do occur.
The Lab builds on the Foundation’s broader mission. Established in 2016 as a positive legacy following the deaths of two children from carbon monoxide poisoning on holiday in Corfu a decade earlier, the charity works to reduce preventable harm across transport, activities, allergic reactions, and personal safety while travelling. Its Safer Tourism Pledge and Safer Tourism Badge already count major operators — including TUI and easyJet holidays — among industry partners committed to stringent safety standards.
For an industry still recovering from a string of high-profile safety incidents in recent years, the Traveller Safety Lab signals a shift: framing safety not as a defensive cost centre, but as a genuine driver of trust, loyalty and commercial performance.
