Qatar Airways has signed a global payments partnership under which QNB Group (QSE:QNBK) will process digital payments for its online sales, the airline said on October 19.

The deal moves card acceptance for the airline’s e-commerce sales, across a network of more than 170 destinations this winter, onto the systems of Qatar‘s largest lender. It deepens an existing relationship: in June 2025 Qatar Airways signed a financing agreement with QNB and other Qatari banks. Passenger traffic through the Doha hub has been running at record levels, with Travelex growing its Qatar network to 19 stores.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Hamad Al-Khater and QNB Group Chief Executive Officer Abdulla Mubarak Al Khalifa signed the agreement in Doha. Beyond processing, the companies will work on transaction visibility, operational efficiency and the payment experience across the airline’s digital sales channels.

Al-Khater called the partnership “an important step” in the airline’s digital journey.

“This partnership reflects QNB’s continued focus on building globally connected financial capabilities rooted in Qatar,” Al Khalifa said, describing the tie-up as “a powerful platform capable of supporting growing digital transaction volumes”.

The agreement also sets up a framework for cooperation on digital commerce, customer experience, emerging technologies and payment solutions. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Qatar Airways operates from Hamad International Airport in Doha and has been named World’s Best Airline by Skytrax nine times. QNB Group operates in more than 28 countries across Asia, Europe and Africa and employs over 31,000 people.
