Businesses and attractions on England’s Wirral peninsula have secured nine nominations in the 2026 Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards, Wirral Council said on October 15.

The Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards shortlist runs to 98 entries across 19 categories. Winners will be named at Liverpool Cathedral on February 4, 2027, and category winners can go forward to the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence. Independent panels judge the entries, using interviews and mystery shopping where relevant.

Eureka! Science + Discovery, a children’s science centre at Seacombe, and New Brighton Creative Futures, a community interest company, have two nominations each. Eureka! is up for large visitor attraction of the year and the accessible and inclusive tourism award. New Brighton Creative Futures is shortlisted for the regenerative tourism award and independent tourism business of the year.

The Floral Pavilion Theatre and Conference Centre in New Brighton is in the running for entertainment venue of the year, and its Sandy Davies for the unsung hero award. Port Sunlight Village Trust, which looks after the model village that soap maker William Lever built for his factory workers, is nominated in a visitor attraction category. The Hideaway is up for self-catering accommodation of the year and The Red Fox for pub of the year.

The organisers put the value of the visitor economy to the city region at £6.83bn.

“It is fantastic to see so many nominations from Wirral in this year’s Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards shortlist,” said Councillor Jenny Johnson, who chairs the council’s tourism, communities, culture and leisure committee.

A public vote for event or festival of the year opens on October 19. The Liverpool Business Improvement District Company is the headline sponsor.

The awards are run by the Liverpool City Region Destination Partnership, the area’s tourism body. Wirral is a borough on the peninsula across the River Mersey from Liverpool.
