Cote d’Ivoire will promote ecotourism and hotel openings at World Travel Market (WTM) London on November 3-5 under its Sublime Cote d’Ivoire strategy, its UK tourism office said.
The West African country is directing tourism investment beyond its commercial capital, Abidjan. Yamoussoukro is being developed for cultural and religious tourism and San Pedro for the coast, while Man is the focus for nature and ecotourism. The country will be one of many destinations courting buyers at a show that this year hosts around 50 tourism ministers.
The ecotourism offer centres on Tai National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that protects one of West Africa’s last major areas of primary tropical forest and is home to chimpanzees. Guided forest experiences and encounters with local communities are being promoted to the UK and Irish markets.
In Abidjan, upcoming openings include the four-star Ascott Riviera Golf Abidjan, while a 16-storey hotel with more than 200 rooms is nearing completion in the Bietry district. Events such as FEMUA, the Festival des Musiques Urbaines d’Anoumabo, and the Akwaba African Diaspora Festival are drawing international visitors and members of the African diaspora.
“The Sublime Cote d’Ivoire initiative is our national strategy to position Cote d’Ivoire among Africa’s leading tourism destinations,” said Djenebou Komah, Head of the Tourism and Leisure Office of Cote d’Ivoire for the UK and Ireland. “I look forward to discussing new opportunities with the media and travel trade at WTM 2026.”
This is the country’s second year at WTM and marks three years since its London tourism office opened. Komah will be joined on stand S6-619 by artist Ibn Cheick Sallah and Frederique Guei, founder of cashew-based food brand SOST. The strategy is led by Minister of Tourism and Leisure Siandou Fofana.
Cote d’Ivoire combines Atlantic beaches, national parks and wildlife with a well-known food and music scene, and is investing in tourism infrastructure, sustainability and regional development under the Sublime Cote d’Ivoire plan.
