flydubai has increased its Dubai-Naples service to daily and will raise its Milan-Bergamo route to double-daily from July 31, deepening its presence in the Italian market ahead of the winter travel season, the Dubai-based carrier said on July 29.
The moves take flydubai to a double-daily frequency to Milan-Bergamo and a daily service to Naples, alongside thrice-weekly Catania flights and twice-weekly seasonal summer flights to Olbia that run until the end of August. Both Naples and Milan-Bergamo operate under the flydubai and Emirates codeshare, giving the low-cost carrier feed into a full-service long-haul network from a single Dubai hub.
Scheduled maintenance at Naples International Airport (NAP) will force a temporary switch. From November 1 to 30, flydubai will fly from Dubai International (DXB) to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi and Cilento Airport (QSR) instead, resuming Naples services from December 1. Passengers already booked to Naples in that window will be automatically rebooked onto the Salerno flights.
Return Business Class fares from Dubai to Salerno start from AED14,135 ($3,848), with Economy Class Lite fares from AED2,885 ($785). Return fares from Salerno start from EUR3,080 in Business and EUR610 in Economy Lite.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, chief executive officer at flydubai, said Naples and Milan had become key gateways into the carrier’s Italian network.
The Italy expansion sits within a wider network push. flydubai has recently launched services to Aleppo in Syria, Bangkok in Thailand and Benghazi in Libya, with direct flights to Pokhara in Nepal starting September 23. The carrier operates a fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft and plans to introduce Starlink connectivity across the fleet.
Why it matters for the trade
The headline is the Salerno swap, not the frequency bump. For all of November, Dubai-Naples passengers land at Salerno Costa d’Amalfi (QSR), a different airport roughly 60 km south east of Naples, on the far side of the Sorrento peninsula. flydubai is rebooking automatically, but agents holding November Naples bookings should reconfirm airport, transfer and onward ground arrangements now. QSR and NAP are not interchangeable for a client heading to central Naples or the northern Amalfi resorts, and the drive times differ materially.
The upside is that Salerno is the better gateway for the Amalfi Coast and Cilento itself. For clients whose real destination is Positano, Amalfi or Paestum rather than Naples city, the November routing is an improvement worth selling as a feature rather than flagging as a disruption. Position it accordingly by client.
The Emirates codeshare is the commercial point. flydubai is not just adding Italian frequency, it is adding beyond-connections through Dubai to Kenya, Oman, the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Zanzibar on single-ticket, through-baggage itineraries. That makes Naples and Milan-Bergamo viable origin points for Indian Ocean and East Africa winter-sun packages, not just Gulf city breaks. Operators building beach-and-safari product should be pricing Italian origins into the Dubai hub.
Watch the winter timing. The double-daily Milan-Bergamo and daily Naples services are framed around rising winter demand, which points to sustained rather than seasonal-peak capacity. That is a signal to build Italy-Dubai series allocation for the winter book rather than treating this as a summer spike.
