Taiwan’s Tourism Administration will launch a weekly lottery in October offering stored-value travel credits to repeat foreign visitors, part of a wider package of incentives worth around TWD3.33bn ($104mn) approved by the legislature on August 14, Focus Taiwan reported on August 20.
Winners of the lottery will receive a TWD5,000 ($156) travel credit, with one accompanying traveller eligible for an additional TWD3,000 ($94) credit. The programme is open to foreign passport holders without a Taiwan residence permit who have visited the country at least once since January 1, 2023, and plan to stay between three and 90 days on their next trip. Registration opens on a dedicated website at 10am on October 1, covering entries submitted between seven and 90 days before arrival, with the scheme applying to travellers entering Taiwan between October 10 and March 31, 2027. Winners can redeem credits at 7-Eleven stores and load them onto an icash 2.0, iPASS or EasyCard.
Separately, overseas companies bringing groups to Taiwan on reward trips will be eligible for additional subsidies of up to TWD4,000 ($125) per person, provided groups stay in licensed accommodation in Taichung, areas south of Taichung, Hualien, Taitung or Taiwan’s outlying islands. This sits on top of an existing incentive travel scheme offering group subsidies of between TWD20,000 ($625) and TWD150,000 ($4,688).
International visitors attending conferences or exhibitions in Taiwan between September 1, 2026, and March 31, 2027, will receive a complimentary Taiwan Tour Bus package and a Taiwan PASS offering three consecutive days of unlimited high-speed rail travel, alongside free access to a selected metro system and scenic shuttle service.
Domestic incentives are also included, with weekday lodging subsidies of up to TWD1,200 ($37.5) available to Taiwanese citizens from September 1 through November 30, alongside birthday lodging vouchers worth TWD1,200 ($37.5) for 12,000 citizens, and discounts on rail passes for domestic travellers.
