Mandarin Oriental will open nine hotels in 2027, including three historic properties in Egypt and resorts in Vietnam and the Maldives, the group said on October 28.

Egypt accounts for a third of the year’s openings. Mandarin Oriental Shepheard in Cairo, the Winter Palace in Luxor and the Old Cataract in Aswan are all due in July after restoration work, giving the brand a run of properties along the Nile route that cruise lines such as Viking are expanding.

The Shepheard first opened in 1841. The Winter Palace reopens after a complete restoration, while the Old Cataract, which overlooks the Nile and the Temple of Khnum, joins the group after a renovation of its Nile Wing.

Two openings are in China. Mandarin Oriental, Hangzhou, a 194-room hotel near West Lake, is due in spring, and a lakeside hotel on Jinji Lake in Suzhou follows in the autumn.

Mandarin Oriental, Da Nang, a beachfront resort on Vietnam’s central coast, opens in spring. In the winter, Mandarin Oriental, Maldives will open with 120 villas across three islands at Bolidhuffaru Reef in South Male Atoll, joining a crowded 2027 luxury pipeline that includes Maxx Royal’s first resort outside Turkey.

In Europe, Mandarin Oriental Cristallo, Cortina, the group’s first Alpine resort, opens in February in a hotel first opened in 1901. Mandarin Oriental, Rome follows in spring with 108 suites in 19th-century villas in the Gardens of Sallust.

The group has also broken ground on Mandarin Oriental, Miami and extended its Exceptional Homes portfolio to Greece.

Mandarin Oriental is a Hong Kong-based luxury hotel group owned by Jardine Matheson. It was named the world’s best luxury hotel brand by Luxury Travel Intelligence for the fourth year running.
