Aman Group announced on September 2 its first destination in South Korea, with Aman Seoul set to combine a hotel, branded residences and a private Aman Club in the Cheongdam district of Gangnam.
The development, produced in partnership with Shinsegae Property, will sit on a site overlooking the Han River previously occupied by the Prima Hotel, according to Korea Times. The project spans around 70,000 square metres across eight basement levels and 38 floors above ground, and will include 49 branded residences alongside the hotel, spa and wellness facilities, and retail and cultural spaces, CLAD Global reported.
Shinsegae Property will lead planning, strategy and development, while Aman will oversee architecture, design and operations under a long-term management arrangement, Korea Times reported. The hotel, residences and Aman Club will each have separate entrances and arrival sequences, according to Luxury Daily.
Vlad Doronin, chairman and chief executive officer of Aman Group, said the project reflected the brand’s confidence in Seoul’s long-term prospects. “Aman Seoul represents our conviction in the city’s future and our desire to build a permanent home for the Aman lifestyle within it,” he said, cited by Open Jaw. “By bringing together a hotel, residences, Aman Club in the heart of Gangnam, we are creating an urban sanctuary where Aman loyalists can engage with the energy of Seoul while remaining immersed in the qualities that define Aman: privacy, exceptional service and a profound sense of cultural connection.”
Chung Yong-jin, chairman of Shinsegae Group, said the scheme would go beyond a typical hotel development. “Aman Seoul represents far more than a hotel development; it will set a new benchmark for luxury living in Seoul,” he said, cited by Open Jaw.
The project follows a partnership agreed in July between Shinsegae Group and OKO Group to expand the Aman brand, CLAD Global reported. Aman Seoul will join the operator’s existing urban properties in Tokyo, New York and Bangkok, with further openings planned in Beverly Hills, Miami Beach, Dubai and Singapore, according to Luxury Daily. Aman has not confirmed an opening date.
