IHG Hotels & Resorts said on November 3 it had signed a 92-room Holiday Inn Resort in Gujarat’s Sasan Gir, due to open in the first quarter of 2031.

The management agreement with Paix Hospitality LLP, a newcomer to the hotel business, brings an international brand to the sole natural habitat of the Asiatic lion. IHG has 53 open hotels across seven brands in India and a pipeline of 110 more due to open within three to five years.

It signed a 156-room Holiday Inn in Naya Raipur on October 27.

The resort, in Gir Somnath district, will have 92 rooms including 11 suites, plus five food and beverage outlets. It will offer 1,366 sq m of meeting and event space across four venues, including a 1,170 sq m ballroom aimed at weddings and social events.

A swimming pool, fitness centre, spa and retail space are also planned.

“As one of India’s leading wildlife tourism destinations, Sasan Gir presents an exciting opportunity to extend our presence into a distinctive leisure market in Gujarat,” said Sudeep Jain, managing director for South West Asia at IHG.

Kuldipsinh Ghoghubha Jadeja of Paix Hospitality said the project gave the company an opportunity “to enter the hospitality sector with a development that responds to the destination’s evolving potential”.

Holiday Inn dates back to 1952. IHG’s Indian portfolio spans Six Senses, InterContinental, Vignette Collection, Crowne Plaza, voco, Holiday Inn Resort and Holiday Inn Express.
