IHG Hotels & Resorts (LSE:IHG) will open Kimpton Suntaya Bali Ubud, the brand’s first Indonesian hotel, in late 2026, the group said on November 5.

The 101-room resort on the Wos River will also be Kimpton’s first property in Bali. Its villas are aimed at longer stays and group travel. The announcement came days after IHG opened Kimpton Al Rowda Doha, the brand’s first hotel in Qatar.

Accommodation will comprise essential rooms, one-bedroom suites and one- and two-bedroom villas. Architect Denton Corker Marshall designed the building to follow the contours of Ubud’s hillside and riverside setting.

The resort will have five food and drink outlets. Michelin-starred chef Imamura will lead Imamura, an evening omakase restaurant, and Shaku by Imamura, a Japanese izakaya with a speakeasy-style bar.

Cascara will serve progressive Indonesian cuisine. Samana will operate as the all-day lobby venue and Pelago Day Club as an open-air riverside space.

Sakshi Spa will base its treatments on elements of Balinese philosophy. The property will also have a two-storey fitness studio and recovery facilities.

Kimpton, which pioneered boutique hotels in the US in 1981, runs more than 60 hotels and 75 food and drink venues.

IHG has 19 hotel brands and more than 6,000 open hotels in over 100 countries, with more than 1,900 in its development pipeline.
