Qatar Airways has launched twice-weekly flights from Doha to Bogotá and Caracas, becoming the first Gulf carrier to serve Venezuela and the first airline to fly nonstop from the Middle East to either city, the airline said on November 4.
The triangular route, flown with Boeing 777-200LR aircraft as QR783, leaves Doha on Wednesdays and Sundays at 07:35 and lands in Bogotá at 16:25. It continues to Caracas, arriving at 21:00, then departs at 23:30 for Doha, landing at 20:35 the next day.
Bogotá and Caracas are Qatar Airways’ 16th and 17th destinations in the Americas. The airline began flying to South America in 2010 with São Paulo. The schedule is timed for connections at Hamad International Airport to markets including Australia, China, Japan, Lebanon, South Korea and the UAE.
Qatar Airways has also extended its partnership with LATAM to LATAM Airlines Colombia, putting its code on LATAM flights from Bogotá to 17 domestic destinations, including Cartagena, Medellín, Cali, Santa Marta and San Andrés Island.
Venezuela is slowly regaining international links, with JetBlue planning its first service to the country from Fort Lauderdale, while Colombia’s cities are drawing more visitors, with Medellín receiving 1.2mn foreign tourists in 2025. Qatar Airways recently hosted Arab airline chiefs in Doha for the 59th AACO annual general meeting.
Qatar Airways, the state-owned flag carrier of Qatar, flies to more than 170 destinations this winter through its hub at Hamad International Airport in Doha.
