Shenzhen has released a theme song and music video for its role as host city of APEC China 2026, pitching the southern Chinese tech hub to overseas visitors, state-run Shenzhen Media Group said on November 1.
The 4-minute-45-second video was shot across the city in 176 shots, with more than 100 residents on screen, and puts young people and foreign residents at the centre of its portrait of the city.
The song, Meet You Where Wonders Bloom, was written by He Muyang, vice chairman of the Chinese Musicians Association, and is performed by singers Jane Zhang and Joseph Zeng. It was produced by the publicity department of the Communist Party’s Shenzhen municipal committee and made by Shenzhen Media Group.
The city is using its APEC year to extend what the release called a “warm welcome to the world” to visitors from near and far. Hosting rights pass next to Vietnam, where Phu Quoc is preparing for APEC 2027.
Shenzhen, which borders Hong Kong, grew from a small market town into one of China’s largest cities after becoming the country’s first special economic zone in 1980. It is home to technology groups including Huawei, Tencent and BYD.
