Hyatt (NYSE:H) will manage a planned 140-room Hyatt Regency resort on Pulau Kapal Besar, a private island near Indonesia’s Batam, the hotel group said on November 4.

The resort will be the first Hyatt Regency in the Riau Islands and sits about 50 minutes from Singapore’s HarbourFront. Guests will clear immigration on neighbouring Nirup Island, the nearest checkpoint, before a short ferry crossing. Hyatt signed the management agreement with Batam developer PT Citra Buana Prakarsa, and opening is anticipated in 2031.

PT Citra Buana Prakarsa, founded in 1988, has more than 1,400 keys in its hospitality portfolio alongside residential, commercial and industrial property. It has existing resorts on Nirup Island and plans for Pulau Layang and Pulau Kapal Kecil.

“We are proud to welcome Hyatt to Pulau Kapal Besar as we embark on this new alliance,” said Tommy Ho, director of business development at PT Citra Buana Prakarsa.

Bastien Touzeau, Hyatt’s regional vice president for growth in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, said: “We are excited to collaborate with PT Citra Buana Prakarsa to bring the Hyatt Regency brand to Pulau Kapal Besar.”

Plans include a spa, a fitness centre, outdoor pools and a Camp Hyatt kids’ club with indoor and outdoor facilities and an entertainment centre.

Hyatt signed four hotels in North India with Saraca Hotels & Resorts on October 30. Indonesia took 70 tourism businesses to WTM London, which runs November 3-5.

The Hyatt Regency brand has more than 245 locations in over 50 countries.
