Qatar Airways will resume daily flights to Zanzibar, Tanzania, from October 25, as part of a 2026-2027 winter schedule that will expand the airline’s network to more than 170 destinations, the carrier said.
The Doha-based airline said the resumption of daily service to Zanzibar’s Abeid Amani Karume International Airport reinforces its commitment to supporting tourism and trade across Africa. The route forms part of a wider expansion across the continent, with Qatar Airways also increasing flights to Johannesburg from 14 to 18 weekly from December 2, and to Seychelles from four to seven weekly, moving to a daily service, from March 1, 2027.
The Zanzibar resumption is one of two headline route returns in the new winter schedule, alongside the reinstatement of daily flights to Canberra via Melbourne, Australia, from December 9. Qatar Airways said its winter programme will operate more than 186 weekly flights across Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, the Americas and the Middle East through its Hamad International Airport hub, with close to 1,800 weekly frequencies scheduled by December 2026.
Elsewhere in the network, flights to Phuket and Malé will rise to 21 weekly services each from October 25, Ho Chi Minh City will increase to 11 weekly from November 7, and London Heathrow will move to 56 weekly flights, or eight daily departures, from October 25, supplemented by a daily British Airways codeshare.
Qatar Airways said the expansion also coincides with continued rollout of Starlink connectivity across its fleet, with more than 150 widebody aircraft now equipped and up to 340 connected flights operating daily.
