Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE:H) has opened the 430-room Grand Hyatt The Red Sea on Shura Island, its eighth hotel in Saudi Arabia, the company said on November 2.

The resort is Hyatt’s second in The Red Sea destination, months after Miraval The Red Sea opened on the same island. It brings Shura Island its largest ballroom and nine dining venues, and Hyatt is pitching it at meetings and incentive groups as well as leisure guests.

“The opening of Grand Hyatt The Red Sea is a significant milestone for Hyatt in the Kingdom and comes just months after Miraval The Red Sea welcomed guests earlier this year,” said Stephen Ansell, Managing Director, Middle East and Africa at Hyatt.

The 430 keys span rooms, suites and villas, some with private pools. Muza Lab designed the interiors around a Reef Flower Garden theme, with organic forms inspired by the Red Sea. The resort sits within Shura Island’s Coral Bloom master plan by Foster + Partners, and its signature canopies are made from recycled fishing nets.

Event space comprises five meeting rooms, a Junior Ballroom and the Grand Ballroom.

Embers, a live-fire restaurant, is already open. Its other concepts include Akira Back Korean BBQ and 2am: dessert bar by pastry chef Janice Wong.

“It is an honour to welcome guests to Grand Hyatt The Red Sea,” said Jean-Francois Durand, the resort’s General Manager. “Shura Island is unlike anywhere else.”

The resort has five pools. Its 750-square-metre Ethereal Spa, featuring the VOYA brand, has 12 treatment rooms.
