Costa Rica’s trade and investment agency PROCOMER took ten local aerospace companies to the NBAA-BACE business aviation show in Las Vegas to win buyers and attract foreign investment, the agency said on October 26.
The delegation spanned maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), precision machining, software, automation, ground handling and logistics, as Costa Rica pitches itself as a nearshoring base for aviation supply chains. Planemakers’ growing order books, including Embraer’s record backlog, are lifting demand for suppliers.
The companies were Avionyx and Novacomp in software and hardware, Soltek and Olympic Precision Machining in precision machining, AASA in automation, All Jets and Global Technik in MRO, Aerologística and IMDC in ground handling, and GJ Cargo and IMDC in logistics.
“Our goal is to continue creating opportunities for more Costa Rican suppliers to enter this industry and move toward more sophisticated, higher value-added activities,” said Laura López, CEO of PROCOMER.
Esteban Carrillo, executive director of the Costa Rica Aerospace Cluster (CRAC), said the country was building a broader range of aviation services, including maintenance, repair, technical support and engineering.
NBAA-BACE, held from October 20 to 22, drew more than 23,000 attendees and 1,000 exhibitors from 98 countries. It was Costa Rica’s sixth appearance with its own exhibition space.
The delegation was led by PROCOMER and CRAC. This year the programme has also taken Costa Rican suppliers to the Aerospace Innovation Forum in Canada, Aerospace Meetings Querétaro in Mexico and the Farnborough International Airshow.
PROCOMER (Promotora de Comercio Exterior) is Costa Rica’s trade and investment promotion agency, supporting exporters and attracting foreign direct investment.
